Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, the octogenarian who always feels young at heart, will formally launch the film ‘Ilaignan’ at a function in Chennai on Wednesday (April 28).
Based on a script by Karunanidhi, the movie starring lyricist Pa Vijay in the lead role, will be directed by Suresh Krishna, who churned out blockbusters like ‘Baasha’, ‘Annamalai’ and ‘Sathya’. Interestingly, ‘Ilaignan’ is going to be the 50th venture of the filmmaker.
Produced by Malayalam producer S Martin, the film will have Meenakshi and Kushboo in pivotal roles. Vidyasagar has been roped in to score the music while cinematography is by B L Sanjay, a former assistant of P C Sreeram. Thotta Tharani will take care of the art.
If sources are to be believed, the director is planning to shoot the movie in Italy, Holland and Switzerland. “Plans are to can a couple of songs on the grand sets erected by Thotta Tharani,” they add.
On the film’s story, sources say, “As the title suggests, it is about a youngster and the situations he come across in his life. It is a social theme with essential commercial ingredients to reach out to the masses.”
