Vijay's dad to remake a film for his son
SA Chandrasekar has said that he would change the story to suit the audience of the present times. He added that all his films are based on the characters and not on the actors. An official announcement of this project is expected soon.
Vijay himself buys his ‘Kaavalkaran’ rights
Vijay has even shocked to hear that the film which was screened was taken out of the theaters on the 25th day itself from the release date.
The latest news about his forthcoming project ‘Kaavalkaran’ directed by Siddique is that he has bought the film rights because he didn’t want the Sun Pictures to buy the rights as his Sura released by Sun Pictures made them suffered. And the other reason is he wanted to compensate the losses incurred by the distributors after the release of Sura. So, this time he is planning to give the distributors his Kaavalkaran at a low price.

Triple offer from Vijay
Vijay is at an important cross road now. With controversies and criticisms mounting Ilaya Thalapathi has finally decided to put everything to rest and make every body happy.
As the first step Vijay has decided to release three films this year to make the theatre owners happy. Siddique's ‘Kaavalkaran’ is 60% complete and is generating good trade talk so far. ‘Jayam’ Raja is also ready for ‘Velayudham’ and there will be an official announcement next week.
Also there is news about Vijay giving his consent to do the remake of ‘3-Idiots’ in Tamil. It’s likely that Vijay will announce this at the launch function of ‘Velayudham’.
With these sudden developments the theatre owners are convinced and are ready for Vijay films again.
Theatre owners decide against Vijay
The Theatre Owners Association today threatened to boycott movies starring Vijay in future, if he (Vijay) failed to compensate them for the huge losses they suffered after screening his recent release 'Sura'.
Addressing media persons in Chennai, Panneerselvam, a top office bearer of the association said, "the continued poor performance of films starring Vijay and the hardship and financial losses faced by exhibitors and theatre-owners forced us to convene an emergency meeting."
"We purchased ‘Sura’ for a huge price. But its not-so impressive performance meant a loss of over 60 per cent for us," he said and added, "We tried approach the actor to provide us compensation. But he could not be reached".
Stating that there have been instances in the past when actors and producers have shared (our) losses by giving compensation, Pannerselvam said "We wish Vijay understands our difficulties and helps us out."
"After working out a formula, we have now asked him to provide us 35 per cent of losses as compensation. If it is not met with, we would be left with no other option but not to cooperate with him when his films are released in future". The combined loss in last five flop shows of Vijay was Rs 30 crore, he added.
Vijay with 3 hot girls in Velayudham
Two lucky ladies are going to play the female lead roles in Vijay’s upcoming film Velayudham but the names are not decided yet. There is buzz that three hotties Genelia D’Souza, Hansika Motwani and Ileana have been lined up to play the roles.
...
With Vijay’s previous films labelled as box office disasters, the actor has rigidly decided to change his course now. His forthcoming films wouldn’t follow on the same lines with him uttering punch dialogues, conveying his ideologies and becoming the saviour of the masses.
Instead, they will be much like his yesteryear commercial entertainers Ghilli, Youth and Badri.
Vijay is trying to complete his present film Kavalkaran, which is a remake of the yesteryear Malayalam blockbuster Bodyguard. The actor will commence his Velayudham by the second week of June. As mentioned earlier, Aascar Ravichandran is planning to launch the film on a grand scale at the Nehru Stadium next week.
Meanwhile, filmmaker Raja is busy finalizing the heroines for two female lead characters and another as Vijay’s sister.
Ileana is there... And see... Movie launch next week... which is also not possible.... Now on whom can we rely upon??????
Vijay is Siddique's actor
After a long time a Vijay film is progressing without his regular codes in place. Heavy mettle intro song, punch dialogues, flying villains etc are put on the side by Siddique in ‘Kaavalkaran’, sources say.
With criticisms from all over for his regular routine flicks of late Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay has finally given into his director. In ‘Kaavalkaran’ it is the director who is calling the shots, they say. There won’t be a intro song elevating hero to a super hero or punch dialogues at the wrong places or villains flying all over at a breath of the hero in ‘Kaavalkaran’.
So as clay in the hands of God Vijay has submitted himself into the hands of Siddique. The sudden shift of attitude may be surprising for many but all Vijay lovers are seeing this as a change for the better.
After the earlier S
Madhi joins Velayutham crew?
Illayathalapathy Vijay is currently busy with Kaavalkaran opposite Asin, directed by Siddique of Friends fame. Meanwhile he has already announced his next project Velayutham directed by Jayam Raja. Interestingly Vijay will have two heroines—Genelia and Hansika—in Velayutham and will play a fictitious man of the masses created by a female journalist. The film is rumoured to be a remake of Nagarjuna’s Telugu hit Azad (2000), which was inspired from Amitabh Bachchan’s 1989 flop Main Azad Hoon, which was again inspired from Frank Capra’s 1941 classic Meet John Doe!
The latest addition to the crew list is cinematographer Madhi of Paiyaa fame. Madhi is currently busy with Karthi’s Naan Mahan Alla.
"Poo" Parvathy's role in Vijay-starrer
The Vijay-starrer Velayudham is taking shape sooner than we expected. The movie is to be launched on May 27th in Chennai. There will be two ladies in the film and one weighty sister character.
Who gets to bag this sister role remains the million dollar question in Kollywood. While some sources say that Saranya Mohan is under consideration, a few others point to ‘Poo’ Parvathy. The actress impressed the movie buffs with her exemplary performance in Poo but did not take up any offers in Kollywood due to unsuitable roles coming her way. Looks like Parvathy also has a strong chance of bagging this character.
Vijay hits back
Ilaiyathalapathy Vijay has hit back at his detractors within the industry by doing two films simultaneously, and planning to start a third film by August.
All this is his silent response to get back at “vested interests” who are trying to put a ban on his films. After the failure of Sura, the theatre’s association in the NSC area (North and South Arcot and Chengalpet) of Tamil Nadu recently announced that they wanted the actor to take “moral responsibility for the failure of Sura”.
They wanted the actor to refund at least 40 per cent of the amount that they had paid as MG (Minimum Guarantee).
A spokesperson of the Chengalpet-Kanchipuram Theatre Association, said, “All recent Vijay films, including the latest Sura have been failures. We had lost crores earlier paying MG’s by screening Azhagiya Thamizh Magan, Kuruvi, Villu, and Vettaikkaran and now, Sura is a washout. Superstars like Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan had compensated us when their films bombed. If he is not willing to pay cash as compensation, Vijay can do a film for us to make up for the losses.”
Now, Vijay, instead of getting into a slanging match with exhibitors and distributors, has quietly begun work on two films. For nearly a decade after he became a superstar, Vijay has been doing only one film at a time, and having a release once in a year. Now, the actor is working on two films — Kavalkaran and Velayutham — simultaneously and will also start work on the Tamil remake of 3 Idiots.
Says Siddique, who’s directing the actor for Kavalkaran, “We are now shooting the college campus scenes of the film with Vijay and Asin in Vellore and after this schedule, nearly 70 percent of the film will be complete. It is going to be a different type of Vijay entertainer, which is sure to be lapped up by the family audiences.”
On Sunday, Hansika Motwani flew down to Chennai from Mumbai to do a photo shoot with the star at a studio in Saligramam, for producer Aascar Ravichandran’s Jayam Raja directed Velayutham. The film is rumoured to be a remake of Nagarjuna’s Telugu hit Azad (released way back in 2000), which was inspired from Amitabh Bachchan’s 1989 flop Main Azad Hoon, which was in turn a carbon copy of Frank Capra’s 1941 classic Meet John Doe! Vijay will have two heroines — Genelia and Hansika — in the film and will play a fictitious ‘man of the masses’ created by a female journalist. For the first time ever, Harris Jayaraj will provide music for a Vijay film.
The producer of Velayutham, Aascar Ravichandran, is veteran producer and distributor who controls more than 30 screens in NSC area, and has a proven track record with hits like Anniyan and Dasavatharam. Remember, it was Ravichandran who made Vijay a superstar when he took over the marketing of Kadhalukku Mariyadhai in 1996. A source close to Vijay said, “Vijay sir is reworking his mass hero image to suit the taste of family audiences. Kavalkaran and Velayutham are carefully planned out projects and he is sure to bounce back with these films followed by the 3 Idiots remake.”
Haniska paired opposite Vijay
Hansika Motwani’s demand in Kollywood is soaring — the young actress has already bagged her second Tamil film even before her debut film is out. Hansika has been cast opposite Vijay in his next film Velayudham.
While confirming this to DC, the producer of the film Aascar Ravichandran, said, “Director Jeyam Raja felt that Hansika would be the best choice for the role that he had conceived. Recently we also completed a photo shoot with Vijay and Hansika. The other heroine in the film is Genelia.” He also clarified that contrary to speculation, this film is not a remake of the Telugu film Azad.
When asked about the buzz in the industry that Shah Rukh Khan is expected to launch the film, Aascar added, “He has agreed to come and we are just waiting for a confirmation. I will know the status in a couple of days.” Even though Harris Jayaraj has been approached to compose the music, industry insiders reveal that it could be Vijay Antony who is likely to be roped in.One more news that is doing rounds in Kollywood is that Velayudham’s inaugural pooja will be held in Chennai on May 27th at the Nehru Indoor Stadium. The event is said to be a grand-scale affair.
Who’s that Vijay girl?
The works for Vijay's new film ‘Velayudham’ directed by ‘Jayam’ Raja is silently progressing even as Vijay is busy with ‘Kaavalkaran’. A grand launching ceremony at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium is also being worked out by Aascar Ravichandran of Aascar films.
Meanwhile the gripping buzz at the moment is the choice of heroines. Sources close to the film say ‘Velayudham’ will have two heroines and there are three girls under discussion. Genelia who earlier did ‘Sachin' with Vijay, Hansika Motwani who has become a hot heroine even before the release her first Tamil film ‘Mappillai’ opposite Dhanush and Kajal Agarwal who is high on the priority list after ‘Mahadheera’.
‘Jayam’ Raja is likely to announce the final cast as early as this month end.

Watch out for a different Vijay
Yes, the actor will stepout of his existing larger than life role image and will spot himself as a boy to next door look. This will happen over his next film ‘Kavalkaran’, a remake of Siddique’s yesteryear blockbuster ‘Body Guard’
The original version featured Dhilip and Nayanthara in lead roles and Asin pulls the offer forTamil remake. Since, Vijay’s previous films were bounded with lots of unwanted social messages, overdosed punch dialogues and crazy fight sequences; he has a definite reason to change now.Let us hope for the best and keep expecting a lot from this film.
Genelia bags Vijay film
Genelia wasn’t lucky when she landed in Kollywood few years ago. Today she may not be counted in the ranks of Priyanka Chopra or Katrina Kaif in Bollywood but Genelia is still a charming favourite for many. Recently her success in Bollywood was repeated in Kollywood also. Her last film in Tamil 'Santosh Subramaniam' was a super hit and her jinx in Kollywood was broken for ever.
Her second round in Kollywood is gaining momentum. After the success of ‘Santosh Subramaniam’ she bagged ‘Uthamaputhiran’ opposite Dhanush and now she has got an even bigger film.
‘Jayam’ Raja who gave Genelia her first hit in Tamil has signed her for his film with Vijay. Vijay's 52nd film which is tentatively titled 'Velayudham' will be her next big thing. ‘Jayam’ Raja was particular that Genelia play the role because of her bubbly attitude which the character also wants very much. This is Genelia’s second film opposite Vijay after ‘Sachin’.
You will see a new Vijay: Siddique
A new Vijay that’s what director Siddique hopes to showcase in the Tamil remake of Bodyguard
Directing Vijay
I have worked with Vijay for the film Friends. But he was not a mass hero then. Now things have changed and he has a big fan following. However, he hasn’t changed a bit; he is the same sprightly guy. Acting comes to him naturally. Stardom hasn’t affected him and he continues dancing and fighting very well.
Asin’s Kollywood comeback
I have known her even before she entered the film industry as she also hails from Ernakulam. She rose to this position due to her hard work and planning. She is organised and highly disciplined.
Scripting a change
Though changes in the original have been done keeping in mind Vijay’s mass hero image, the story thread remains the same. As I am used to working with superstars, I pen the script keeping in mind their image and hence it’s not a difficult task. And so far, none of them have interfered in my script.
Siddique’s special touch
I try to give my stories a fresh appeal every time by making sure it doesn’t reflect or resemble my earlier scripts. I haven’t adapted other writers’ works so far. I’m not keen to do so because if it is a story by a well-known author, then it might have already created certain visuals in the readers’ mind. If I move away from it and treat it differently, people may find it difficult to accept it.
Writer vs director
Creativity lies in writing stories and it gives me a lot of satisfaction. I read out all my stories to my family members and gauge their reactions and make changes accordingly. However, I’m my best critic.
The reader
I have been a voracious reader since my childhood. But over the years, I have observed a change in my preferences of books. Now, I’m reading a lot of philosophical books. Also, when I re-read old books, I get a different visual and experience.
A new vijay
Unlike Vijay’s recent films, there won’t be any hero introduction songs in my flick. You will see a new Vijay in this film; he’ll leave a lasting impression on the minds of audiences with his romantic image. The film is a love story but told in a different way. The other highlight is that the film has music by Vidyasagar. Also, actress Roja is making a comeback with it.
Vijay & Asin in Vellore..
The Vijay-Asin starrer, directed by Siddique and tentatively titled Kavalkaran, has started its second schedule at VIT campus in Vellore from May 16.
The film is a remake of the director’s Bodyguard in Malayalam, and nearly 50 percent of the shoot is happening in a college campus. As per the story Raj Kiran a big businessman appoints Vijay as a bodyguard for his college going daughter played by Asin.
The film is basically a love story, and director Siddique keeping in mind Vijay’s mass hero image has made some minor changes to his original version. The buzz is that Vijay is trying to work out a new romantic image with this film.
Inspite of being the holiday time there was a huge crowd on location at the VIT campus to see Vijay and Asin. Last time such crowds were seen was when Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai shot for Endhiran at the same location.
Vijay to be banned!!
Vijay's recent not so impressive record at the box office has upset many and particularly the exhibitors who are last link in the chain of film making. Theatre owners in Tamil Nadu have called for an emergency meeting to discuss the status of screening Vijay films in future.
Theatre owners in Tamil Nadu charge that in the last five years Vijay has done seven films and they have suffered huge losses as they all failed to click. Out of Aadhi, Pokkiri, Azhagiya Thamizh Magan, Kuruvi, Villu, Vettaikkaran and Sura released in the last few years they say only ‘Pokkiri’ fetched them profits.
To compensate the losses they incurred by screening the above films the theatre owners are asking Vijay to do a film exclusively for the theatre owners. If not they will issue a red card to the actor and will not screen Vijay films in future.
To discuss the issue further theatre owners are holding an emergency meeting tomorrow May 22. This sudden development is closely watched by the industry.
Said Yes to Vikram… can Vijay Expect the same?
When news about Vijay’s Velayudham began floating, there was a speculation on who would pair up with him. There are different versions doing rounds in Kollywood. One group of sources says that talks are on with Ileana. The actress’s name cropped up after she agreed to pair up with Vikram in Vedi. This means Ileana is keen on re-entering Kollywood and is making the right moves.
Yet another source points out that Tamannah is under consideration for Velayudham. Since the actress has already paired with the Ilayathalapathy in Sura, she may give a go-ahead for this project as well, it is speculated. Behindwoods.com will keep you posted on this.

Exclusive news about vijay's Velayutham!!
f industry sources are to be believed, then it really is a coup! According to the latest buzz, Bollywood’s Badshah Shah Rukh Khan will be launching Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s next flick, which is tentatively titled Velayudham.
The man who’s being tipped to bring the My Name is Khan star to Chennai is producer Aascar Ravichandran, known for his lavish launches. The same producer brought international star Jackie Chan to India for his earlier film Dasavatharam’s audio launch.
Aascar Ravi has gotten a commitment from Vijay, reveal insiders. Vijay will be directed by filmmaker Jayam Raja for the forthcoming movie, which will go on the floors after he completes his current film Kaavalkaran with Siddique.
Though Asin was originally supposed to play opposite Vijay in Aascar’s project, the actress chose to team up with the Sura star for the Siddique-directed movie.
Now, it is learnt that the new movie, which is based on the Telugu flick Azad (which featured Nagarjuna, the late Soundarya and Shilpa Shetty) will star two hotties —- Ileana and Genelia. Both will be romancing Vijay. Both the actors and director’s penchant for Telugu remakes is common knowledge, so it came as no surprise that they zeroed in on Azad for their next project.
Since Genelia has already worked with Vijay in Sachien and Jayam Raja in Santhosh Subramaniam, it was easy to rope in the actress. In all likelihood Harris Jayaraj will compose the tracks.
The big launch is to take place for sentimental reasons at the Nehru Indoor Stadium, a venue which worked well for the producer during his Dasavatharam audio release.
Harris Jeyaraj is music in Vijay’s next film Velayutham!!
Harris Jeyaraj is one of the busy composers in Kollywood, we should say..
The composer is working simultaneously in a couple of Kollywood and Tollywood projects.. His compositions in tamil films include: Ich directed by Prabhudeva which has Jayam Ravi and Hansika in lead..
Cinematographer-turned director KV Anand’s KO, which stars Jiiva, Karthika in lead and an Untitled project with AR Murugadoss with Suriya in lead..
Meanwhile, sources say, that he might also score the music in Vijay’s next film Velayutham, to be directed by Jayam Raja..
We wish him great success!!
