Actor Arvind Swamy, who shot to fame with Mani Ratnam’s Roja, was granted divorce from Gayathri Ramamurthy yesterday (December 10). A family high court dissolved their marriage on grounds of mutual incompatibility.
Arvind and Gayathri got married on June 3, 1994 as per the Hindu customs. But due to irreconcilable differences, they have been living separately since 2003. After being separated close to seven years, the estranged couple finally approached the family court in May seeking for the divorce by mutual consent.
They have two children, Adhira Swamy (14) and Rudra Swamy (9). It is said that the children will be in Arvind's custody. Reports have also claimed that the actor will pay Rs. 75 lakhs as divorce settlement and 1 lakh per month for her maintenance.
