Actor and former AIADMK MP Ramarajan suffered multiple injuries in a road accident at Nallamanayakanpatti in southern Tamil Nadu in the early hours of Sunday. His car driver died on the spot. The actor’s assistant was also injured.
Reports said that Ramarajan was proceeding to Thirunelveli after addressing a public rally at Ottanchathiram in Dindigul district, when the mishap occurred. It is said the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle and the car dashed against the parapet wall of a bridge on the four-lane national highway.
The car driver, Rajarathinam, was killed on the spot, while another person, Doss, who was personal assistant of Ramarajan, was seriously injured in the mishap.
Kallikudi police rescued the duo from inside the smashed car and sent them to Tirumangalam government hospital. After first aid, they were admitted to a private hospital in Madurai. Ramarajan, the police said, has suffered a fracture and head injuries in the mishap.
