I had great expectations for the movie, not just because of its story line, but also because of Ajith, the hero of masses! There are many ways to define a good movie and it is very subjective. According to me, these are some facts that I look for in a "Good" movie :
* A gripping story to which you can relate to.
* Perfect entertainer, a good mix of commercial elements.
* A movie which touches you emotionally.
* A movie which makes you laugh and cry, get connected with the characters portrayed.
* A movie which keeps you thinking, even when you are out of the theater!
* Great performances, which makes you believe what is happening.
* A good value for the money and time spent!
A disturbing fact about Kireedom is, it fails miserably in all of the above! The movie opens up really well but it slows down with the initial romance and comedy sequences. Some lengthy scenes at the beginning makes us wonder whether they are really planning to show the actual plot of the movie or not! Trisha is quite boring in an usual role. Comedy track by Santhanam is better than that of Vivek's. The most noticeable positive attributes of the movie are the natural performances by Ajith and RajKiran! Ajith is refreshingly cool and he has a grandeur screen presence! He has it all, smart looks, great acting skills, excellent dialogue delivery and a perfect on screen Charisma. Unfortunately he is the right person in a wrong movie! He tries hard to fit in, but the inconsistent screenplay fails him deliberately. Ajith's first encounter with the Villain and scenes following it are remarkable. Raj Kiran lives truthfully in imaginary circumstances. His emotions as an affectionate father are astounding! After the intermission, you think the movie had picked up pace, alas it falls right into the dark trap again! Villain looks lifeless! The new director A.L.Vijay has handicapped the script with a poor screenplay. Akkam Pakkam song is a great relief , but others are just inclusions. G.V.Prakash's BGM lacks quality, most of it reminds A.R.Rahman's works. Last but not the least, the climax is gripping. But as another reader pointed out here, one should stay till the end of the movie to watch it! Sorry Ajith(and Ajith fans)...Better luck next time!

Kireedom Countdown starts!

Kireedom is one of the most awaited movies of this year next to Rajnikanth's Sivaji! Sivaji is on the road of success for quite some time now and it is time for Ajith's Kireedom to make its entry. It is not only awaited by millions of his fans but also by the actor himself. The success of its music(by A.R.Rahman's nephew G.V.Prakash) has doubled the hype! 10 days until its release and the city is already caught up with Kireedom fever!
Kireedom facts:
Kireedom, directed by A.L.Vijay is a remake of Mohanlal's Kireedom(1989) directed by Sibi Malayil. Mohanlal won the 1990 Indian National Award: Special Jury Award / Special Mention (Feature Film) for this film. Priyadarshan remade the film in Hindi as Gardish.

Trisha's expressions look priceless. I have never had an admiration for her acting but this one looks cool.
Ajith fits totally into the role. His earlier work "Anjaneya", which portrayed him as a Police Officer was a real bummer! Hope this one works best for him and his fans!
I guess this one is from peppy "Vilaiyadu" song. Ajith looks cool and young in some of these stills. This talented actor definitely needs more serious movies like this one to prove his acting credentials.
Will Kireedom live up to its expectations? Will it turn out to be a huge hit like Varalaru? Or will it be a Vaali 2? Perhaps time will answer these and the anxious waiting starts.....

The initial bit is similar to Pudhu Vellai Mazhai from Roja. Other than that the music is quite compelling! Yet another melody from Sadana Sargam! The flute composition after the pallavi is outstanding! "Akkam pakkam" is truly a diamond stone on Ajith's Kireedom.
Vizhiyinil
Singers : Sonu Nigam, Swetha
Good mix of Violin and Veena. Lyrics are catchy, especially the pallavi! Sonu Nigam's voice makes the song more meaningful! Another great melody and is sure to rock for many years!
Theme Music:
Rhythms quite well with movie's tempo. It is kind of lengthy(4:24), editing the middle part would have made it even more catchy! The initial part is mesmerizing!
Kanavellam
Singers : Karthik, Jeyachandran
Nothing new except for the lyrics. It sounds like a story narration, could have been a bit more racy!
Vilaiyadu Vilaiyadu
Singer : Shankar Mahadevan
Just another average song! I think lyricists should move beyond the age old "Thalaiyirukkum podhu vaal ada koodathu" monologue! Ajith is a star performer and he definitely deserves more than this!
Kanneer Thuliyile
Singer : Vijay Yesudas
Similar to Poongatrile from Uyire! This song captures pathos with good lyrics.
Plus : Melodies
Minus : Lacks a racy number, Greatly influenced by A.R.Rahman's music!
