Lara Dutta and Mahesh Bhupathi go on a vacation

After Vivek Oberoi and his wife Priyanka, it is the turn of Lara Dutta and Mahesh Bhupathi to go for a summer vacation. Lara Dutta and Mahesh Bhupathi, will most probably, be going out of India. This is not only the summer vacation for them, but also a honeymoon trip.

However, the Cholo Dilli actress was shrewd enough not to expose the name of the destination. However, it was Vivek Oberoi who had made it public that he would be going to Bali along with his wife. But as far as the trip of Lara Dutta and Mahesh Bhupathi is concerned, it is still unclear where the pair has headed.

But there is one interesting thing that Lara Dutta has revealed. She and her husband will also be accompanied by their pet dogs as well. There is more than Lara has made public. Even if we call it their honeymoon time, hold on. See who is there with the couple. She disclosed this on her Twitter page:

“Vacation time! Dogs, domestic help, parents, sisters, nieces, husband's (mine and sisters) all headed 2 an undisclosed location! Its an Exodus!,”

Lara Dutta promoting Chalo Dilli vigorously

Lara Dutta is awaiting her next movie, Chalo Dilli, which is slated for April 29 release. Along with Lara, Vinay Pathak will be seen in the lead role. Akshay Kumar will be seen in a cameo while the much-talked about Yana Gupta will be seen in a raunchy item number.

Lara Dutta is not known for being too much in the limelight whatever the reason is. She is not seen every now and then for the promotion of her films, even if she is acting in the lead role. But for her current film Chalo Dilli, Lara seems to have made an exception. She is leaving no stone unturned to promote her film this time around.

Whatever the medium of communication is possible, Lara is using them all for the cause, be it radio, TV or even the Internet. As far as television is concerned, she is trying to attend as many programmes as possible to give the film a lift. She is using the social networking to the best of her advantage. The most prominent of them all is Twitter. The reason is Lara has more than three lac followers on Twitter.

With such a strong follower-base, it would be surprising only if Lara had ignored that medium. On Twitter, she asked some questions which were related to the film. The beautiful lady has also promised some gifts in the form of her and Vinay’s autographed merchandise to the winners.

Lara Dutta to host ‘Extreme Makeover’ on the small screen

By playing the host to the Indian version of the reality show, Extreme Makeover, Lara Dutta will become yet another actress from Bollywood, who will make her debut on the small screen. She has not signed the contract officially as of now, because the talks about the remuneration and the duration are still on. However it is certain that the contract will land in Lara’s lap.

Since her marriage, Lara has got many offers to do various shows. However, it is ‘Extreme Makeover’ that Lara has fallen for. As the show is not officially signed by Lara yet, she is not thinking anything about it yet. But she is currently busy with ‘Don2’ and ‘Chalo Dilli’.

As per the programme, there will be 14 contestants, who will receive an extensive makeover.

Lara has not turned housewife after her marriage to Indian tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi weeks ago. She is awaiting the release of ‘Chalo Dilli’ which is scheduled to be released on April 29.

A LITTLE ABOUT ‘EXTREME MAKEOVER’

TV producer in the US Howard Schultz is credited to be the creator of the show. This show began almost nine years ago – in 2002. Then, around 55 episodes of the show were produced. When we say extreme makeover in the sense of the show, we mean, the involvement of plastic surgery, exercise, hairdressing etc. The participants then return to their respective families after undergoing ‘Extreme Makeover’.

'Housefull 2' to roll shortly

'Housefull' might have been moderately houseful. But what we hear the latest is that, they are coming up with a sequel to the film. The sequel will be titled 'Housefull 2'. The leading stars of 'Housefull' were Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta, Akshay Kumar, Ritiesh Deshmukh and Jiah Khan along with Arjun Rampal.

Now the two Sajids, producer Sajid Nadiawala and Sajid Khan are coming back to tickle your funny bone once again, as they are coming back with the sequel to 'Housefull'. How

ever, the new version will have an

entirely different cast. John Abraham, Nana Patakar, the very versatile Paresh Raval and the ever beautiful Katrina Kaif will be seen in 'Housefull 2'. The film will be shot both in India and on some exotic foreign locations.

The shooting will start in the month of May. Now, let's hope that all goes well with the film at the box office too.

Housefull

There have always been newer and newer ways of promoting the film. For that the production houses are ready to spend money and are ready to innovate as well. Now, speaking about 'Housefull', they have also come up with such a unique idea. The leading stars of the film - Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta, Akshay Kumar, Ritiesh Deshmukh and Jiah Khan along with Arjun Rampal will be going to spend almost one full day at the house of the winner of a lucky contest. They will be travelling across Ahmadabad, Delhi, Kolkata and of course, Mumbai.
According to Sajid Nadiadwala, the producer, the stars will personally interact with their fans. The 'Housefull' team will be visiting 4 families. That will be also a lifetime experience for the fans of the stars too and will also get a chance to get up-close and personal with them. People in 'Housefull' are normal facing abnormal situations and that is where comedy takes birth. But this has to do with a lie - a white lie. Now, let's hope that all goes well with the film at the box office.

Sajid's 'Housefull'

Innovation is the name of the game, and there are some expert players to play this game. Sajid Khan is one of them. He is dishing out a 'Housefull' of entertainment, where there will be what no other director has done. Sajid has experimented with a new concept. The concept is of trying out a number of languages in the span of the whole movie. 3 hours showcase more than 3 languages. By the way, using a couple of languages like a doubler is not new. Hindi and English is simply used as a mother-tongue.
However, Punjabi, Telugu, Marathi, Urdu, Guajarati and Sindhi all are bundled into one to create a great comic experience. Lara Dutta and Boman Irani speak Gujrati. Akshay Kumar and Vindu Dara Singh speak Punjabi. Riteish speaks Marathi. Deepika and Arjun Rampal speak Telugu. Don’t forget Chunky Pande who speaks Italian. Lillete Dubey Urdu, and finally Jiah Khan and Randhir Kapoor speak Sindhi. Let us hope that this change brings about a new trend in entertainment.

Jhoom Barabar Jhoom

Surprisingly, a lot funnier than I thought.


If you're going to enjoy Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, you'll have to be able to tolerate a few things and accept it for what it really is-- A glitzy comedy that is only funny because its ridiculous, and a showcase for flashy choreography with some smokin' fashion.

In order to appreciate the humor in JBJ, you'll probably have to be somebody who likes "stupid-funny" films. This is the first one I've encountered in Bollywood, but in Hollywood we give movies such as The Big Lebowski and Happy Gilmore this label (These are actually classics, and JBJ isn't really on par with them, but if I'm trying to think of other comedies that made me laugh at the same types of shallow jokes, these are the first that come to mind). Since I happen to be someone who is easily amused by meaningless comedies, I got a few good laughs out of JBJ.

The source of most of that laughter was none other than Abhishek Bachchan. I was pleasantly surprised with how easily he slipped into a comedic role. Hard to believe this was the same uptight cop from Dhoom 2. He played a goofball so effortlessly, and for some reason I found it really hilarious when:

1)He said words such as "Huffy Bhai" and "beautifuler" and "whatchasayin".

2)His phone said "Hey, Handsome" when it rang.

3)He made a pouty face in the song "Ticket to Hollywood"...which, by the way, had me cracking up just because it is a song titled "Ticket to Hollywood". I will never forget him and Lara Dutta prancing around to those insanely silly lyrics. Classic!

4)Ouch. Why'd he have to call Pakistani movies crap?

I didn't think Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta's scenes were quite as funny as Abhi's and Lara's, but they got better in the second half. Just a little bit.

Another thing you'll have to keep in mind when watching this movie is that it has a lot of music. A lot. I happen to love Bollywood music, so this was right up my alley, but if you're the type of person that doesn't get why a Hindi movie includes songs in the first place, you may have an issue with the dance contest that seems like it never ends. It's three rounds(that feels like four) of nothing but beautiful costumes and slick choreography. Then again, both women look amazing, if that sparks any interest in you. I was particularly wowed by Preity Zinta throughout the movie, whose clothes and makeup were hot, hot, hot!


Speaking of makeup, because I used to work for MAC, I really, really appreciated the scene done in front of a MAC counter. It was just awesome to see Preity Zinta standing in front of a shelf stocked with lipliners similar to the one I stood in front of for five years. Ahh, once a MAC girl, always a MAC girl...


There is one more bonus to watching Jhoom Barabar Jhoom that deserves to be mentioned. "Bol Na Halke" is extremely pleasing to the eye...The colors, clothes, and photography are just breathtaking. In my opinion, the music itself isn't even as beautiful as the presentation is. (Not that its not a pretty song, it is, but when I listen to it on my Ipod it seems to have lost some of its sparkle). I liked Abhi and Preity's friendship jodi in KANK, but here their contrasting looks make them a really striking romantic pair, too.

On a personal note, I need to know the actress's name that played Alvira's younger cousin. Does anybody know? She just looks so much like my sister! Here are the pictures to prove it:

To be honest, I don't know if these pictures do the resemblance justice, but if you met my sister you would know where I'm coming from on this...Ahh, and they say we all have a twin somewhere...Either that or Papi Nazir has some explaining to do!

Basically, because of its shallow story, JBJ could technically be called an "awful" film...But that's what stupid-funny comedies are all about(if you don't get that sentence, then this movie is probably not for you)! At least it was directed well and had subtitles that made sense, which is more than I can say for the other movie I watched today. If you like dancing, fashion, and a few cheap laughs, you'll likely get a kick out of Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.

I have to confess that I did.
