Maestro Ilayaraja
My blog wouldn't be complete if I don't write about this greatest legend in the World of Music, Maestro Ilayaraja! He has composed more than 4000 songs in a span of 30 years. I still remember the refreshing BGM score from the movie Mouna Ragam, especially the score for Karthik's escape sequence is a masterpiece. Maestro's music was a boon for Kamal's 100th movie Raja Paarvai where he played the role of a blind musician. Though the movie turned out to be a flop, music remained a classic for many years to follow. During the 80's, he was the composer for all the leading actors' movies, while most of these turned out to be huge musical hits. This was considered to be the golden era of music when Ilayaraja acquired the title "Isai Gnani". In Mani Ratnam's Agni Natchathram, he has followed a western style which was quite different from his previous movies. His songs are good for all seasons! How can I not talk about his rain songs. Songs such as "Etho Megam Vanthatho"and"Vaan Megam" were the mostly played songs in school dance competitions!
I have a long list of his favorites, this is one among them!
