Rajnikanth starrer Sivaji, the biggest blockbuster in the history of Indian Cinema is all set for another big release this year! Hindi version of the movie is now under production. Rajnikanth and Shriya are expected to lend their voices! Director Dr.Shankar is planning to make some minor changes to give the movie to give it a Hindi touch. Sivaji to be dubbed in Hindi!

In response to Sivaji's phenomenal success worldwide, AVM productions have decided to dub the movie in Hindi! Director Shankar and music composer A.R.Rahman have agreed to this. The tamil version of Sivaji has racked up to Rs 1.5 crore so far from North India. This is at least 8-10 times of what a regular Tamil movie makes in a North Indian market. It is running successfully at 5 screens in Delhi, 8 in Mumbai and 3 in Kolkata. Meanwhile, Ayngaran International, which has the overseas rights for Sivaji, is planning to dub the movie in Chinese and Japanese languages!

Congress moves to court against Sivaji!

Sivaji is running successfully throughout the world! Success not only brings rewards but also some complications. Here comes an example.
Congressman M. Satyamoorthy, filed a public interest litigation before the Madras High Court. He claimed that the movie portrayed Congress leaders 'in the company of the villain' and that this was done 'with intention to defame the Congress party and its leaders'. On behalf of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, the petitioner claimed damages amounting to Rs.500 million from the producer A.V.M. Saravanan, director Shankar and actor Rajnikant on the count of defamation.
The petition said that the villain, Aadhikesavan(Suman in the movie), has a photograph of him with Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi. He added that the photograph is shown four times in the film, giving an impression that the villain was a member of the Congress party and that its leaders were supporting him. The petition is likely to come up for hearing on Tuesday.

Shakar's next movie Robot in Hindi

Shankar was discussing about this project for quite some time. Robot, a science fiction movie had Kamal Haasan in the lead and the story was penned by Sujatha. But the project was dropped and now the rumors are that Shankar would continue the same project in Hindi! Hrithik Roshan is expected to play the lead role. The budget of Shankar's latest movie Sivaji was around 85-90 crores and Robot is expected to cost triple the amount!

Sivaji Case in Court!

Sudalai K. Jayarajadevan who is an assistant director moved to court claiming that he penned the script for Sivaji - The Boss!
The Fifth City Civil court issued a notice to Sivaji’s director Shankar and three others and posted the hearing in a week. In his petition he claimed that me met director Shankar's Manager in 2005 and discussed the script with him. When he later tried to contact the manager, he evaded him, Jayarajadevan alleged.
He finally managed to meet the manager and was promised a meeting with the director. The meeting did not materialize as the manager did not show up, the petition said.
The petitioner said he learned to his surprise that his story was used for the film Sivaji. On June 6, he contacted the director's office and was told that he was away in Canada.
Jayarajadevan claimed if the film's screening was not stopped, he would suffer irreparable loss, inconvenience and hardship and sought an injunction to restrain the screening of the film till disposal of the suit!

Sivaji's revenue

Sivaji opened at over 850 screens and the movie opened with more than 600 prints in TamilNadu alone! 160 of them were distributed in the US, UK, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia. Sivaji is the first ever tamil film to make an entry into UK top 10! It is positioned at number 9! Sivaji's budget was around 85-90 crores and the estimated profit in TamilNadu alone will be 60-70 crores!
It is estimated that the movie has grossed over 25 crores during the first week! The movie is expected to gross over 150 crores in Ticket sales alone! Sivaji has been released in 12 theaters in Britain and has grossed Rs.13.6 million, one of the biggest collection ever made by an Indian movie!
Yash Raj's Jhoom Barabar Jhoom was released on the same day of Sivaji's release. But the movie flopped big time even though it had enviable star cast of Amitabh Bachan, Abhishek Bachan, Priety Zinta, Larra Dutta and Bobby Deol!

Sivaji Review

There is no spoiler alert for this review since I'm not going to discuss about the story. If you are looking for a full-time entertainer, watch Sivaji, an action based family entertainer. It is sure to win audiences of all ages! The first half is full of humor and love while the second half is packed with great action! With that being said, the entire movie swirls around one man, Rajni - The Boss!
How many days have passed since we saw Rajni in such a stylish performance! His new styles with chewing gum are cool. The good old Rajni times are back! His dialogue delivery and mannerisms are beyond comparison! Did we talk about Amitabh vs Rajni earlier? Now we have reached a conclusion!
It was good to see a huge crowd of Thalaivar's fans in the US. It was like a festival! A.R.Rahman's music rhythms well with the story and he has used different background scores throughout the movie! Even the original soundtrack for SuperStar title has changed! Songs fit just right into the movie! Every song has a theme and the sets are amazing! How can I not talk about "Oru Koodai Moonlight"? It has a very different theme and makeup! Athiradi song is the highlight! Watch out for his great avatars before the song!
Shriya Saran looks gorgeous and has given a splendid performance! Movie includes a long star cast but each one of them have served their purpose. Vivek's comment about punch dialogues is so true! Sujatha's dialogues are crisp. Dialogues such as "Pera ketta Chumma Athiruthula? ", "Sivajiyum Naan Thaan MGRum Naan Thaan", "Kon Hai? Boss da Kena" are worth mentioning! Shankar has fully utilized his lifetime opportunity of directing a SuperStar and has achieved great success in the process! This is a Rajni movie with Shankar's touch! Sivaji is truly "The Boss" and is sure to run successfully for another 3 years or maybe more! Watch it in theaters, don't dare to miss it!

4 Days until Sivaji's release!

4 days until Sivaji's release and chennai ran out of tickets for the first two weeks in spite of being screened in 20 theaters across the city! The first few shows have been taken by rajni fan clubs. It is released almost everywhere in the US too!
This picture suggests Shankar's creativity. He painted roads, buses and rocks for the movie Anniyan and now humans for Sivaji! His song themes are beyond imagination!

Sivaji's trailer starts as a rapid fire! In the opening sequence, editing and music has played hand in hand giving us a perfect glimpse of Rajni's multifaceted talents. The first section unwinds with Rajni exhibiting his various styles(including the famous sunglass style)! Second section portrays him as great human. Dialogues like "Panam Pona Varum, Uyir Varumanga? " and "Saakara Naal Therinjipochina Vazhra Naal Naragamayidum, Sandhoshum Thaanga Mukkiyam" are sure to touch many hearts. Third section portrays Rajini as a great Comedian. Forth section includes the theme of the movie. Rajni's makeup and hairstyles look fresh and cool. Even though the movie includes big names such as Shankar, A.R.Rahman, K.V.Anand, Sujatha, Thotta Tharani and Prabhu Deva, all I can talk about is Rajni! Sivaji is truly a One Man Show!

Here we go.. My first post is about the most awaited movie of the year Sivaji - The boss(Tamil). The film's release is delayed by two(long) weeks. It is scheduled to be released on June 15th 2007. Lets hope it works out this time. : ) The audio of the movie has turned out to be a huge hit already, increasing the movie's expectations. Yeah you have guessed it right.. I'm a huge fan of Rajnikanth(Superstar) as many other Indians. How about some interesting facts about the movie?
