Work At Home

Looking for a perfect Work At Home(WAH hereafter) can be stressful and time consuming. But if you are willing to set time and do your own research, you would be quite surprised with the great results. To make your search job easier, here are some useful tips:

* Don't pay for a job, if it requires a sign up cost it could possibly be a scam.
* Do your research before signing up for a program( Homework always helps).
* Look for discussion forums where people have posted their views on a WAH job opportunity.
* A WAH job may not produce a steady paycheck as a regular job, so do have some backup plans. :)

Here are some WAH opportunities that have paid me:
Surveys:
Pinecone research, ACOP, Viewpoint Forum and Your2Cents have paid me several times. Pinecone doesn't have a referral system so you should look for banners online. Pinecone pays via PayPal and cheque. ACOP, Viewpoint Forum and Your2Cents pays via cheque.

Paid To Read(PTR) emails:
This doesn't pay much but something is always better than nothing! Most of the sites pay 1 Cent for an email. When you sign up for such sites look for their previous payment history and make sure they send atleast 40-50 emails/day. Sites with 1C/email works best. Create a separate email address for these sites. Here is a list of PTR sites that pays:
GGmails
Lookitmails

ChaCha search guide:
ChaCha is a human powered search engine(More on ChaCha in my next post). ChaCha employs human guides to process user's queries. ChaCha guides are paid $5-$10/active search hour. Guides are only paid for the first six minutes of their search so the maximum you can make out of single search is 50 Cents. Other ways of earning through ChaCha includes your active network and fetching consistent users through your unique tool bar.

Moola:
Get paid for playing games! According to their site,
"Moola is something like a free super-jackpot game show, which allows anyone to become a millionaire on the internet, rather than watching others do so on TV. Similar to a TV game show, Moola is free and relies on sponsors to enable millions of people to vie for serious amounts of cash and prizes".
I haven't had much luck with the game but one of my referrals is super active thus gaining me some $$. You receive 4% of your first tier referrals' earnings, 3% from tier 2, 2% from tier 3 and 1% from tier 1. You need an invitation for signing up with this site.

KeyForCash:
As the name suggests, you get paid for keying. I haven't worked for this company but some my friends have and they have been paid. I believe that there is a long waiting list to join though!

Apartment Gardening

When did my gardening interest begin? Probably from my childhood days. I was greatly inspired by my mom's spectacular garden but have never tried gardening until a few years back. My passion for flowering plants and home grown veggies have increased since then. When I moved to an apartment in Chicago, I just thought I would try an indoor garden. Initially I included some crotons and creepers that didn't require much care. Sitting beside them everyday, watching them grow and having a hot cup of Coffee....Did I just say coffee? Okay, lets take a short coffee break and get back to some interesting plants to grow in an apartment.

Flowers:
Jasmines:
There are many varieties of Jasmine. The most noted being Jasminum sambac (mallipu in tamil). In India it is usually made as a garland and offered to God. Traditional indian women wear them as a hair adornment. That being said, lets grow one now! : )
* Jasmines thrive well on a sunny spot, so place them near a bright southern/western facing window.
* Use a good potting mix. Miracle grow works best.
* Jasmines like dry conditions. Do not over-water them.
* Fertilize them every month.
* Start with a small 4" plant so that it can adjust to your room conditions.

Ready to buy one? If you live in Chicago area, you can look for a live plant in a Farmer's market or you can buy one online here:

Vegetables:
What tastes better than a home grown veggie? There are many vegetables that can be grown successfully in an indoor or patio garden. I have tried a few of these and I'm planning to start a balcony veggie garden this summer! Woohoo! Can't be more excited! Lets start with tomatoes first!

Tomato:

* Look for patio/balcony varieties like Patio, Red robin, Tiny tim, Window box etc.
* Plant seeds indoors 10-12 weeks before setting them outside.
* Use large containers, 5-10 gallon containers works well for patio varieties.
* Water them everyday if you are using a 5 gallon container but do not leave them water-logged.
* Tomatoes likes warm spots, so place them on the south facing balcony with 8-12 hours of direct sunlight.

Other vegetables that can be grown successfully on a patio/balcony include cucumber, pepper, eggplant, carrot, beets and squash. Good luck with your apartment gardening! Will update you on my new veggie garden soon...Keep reading! : )

Sivaji

Here we go.. My first post is about the most awaited movie of the year Sivaji - The boss(Tamil). The film's release is delayed by two(long) weeks. It is scheduled to be released on June 15th 2007. Lets hope it works out this time. : ) The audio of the movie has turned out to be a huge hit already, increasing the movie's expectations. Yeah you have guessed it right.. I'm a huge fan of Rajnikanth(Superstar) as many other Indians. How about some interesting facts about the movie?

* Sivaji is SuperStar's 100th movie in tamil.
* Suman's last movie in tamil was Thee starring Rajnikanth as the hero!
* UK students are filming a documentary on Superstar!
* This is director Shankar's 9th movie, Superstar's 9th movie with AVM productions and his lucky number is...yep 9! (Did I tell you that I'm a firm believer of numerology?)
* A.R.Rahman re-recorded the background music in London!
* Sivaji sets record with a budget of about 60 indian crores and making Superstar as the highest paid actor in India.
* Nayantara performs an item number for the song Balleilakka!
* Kalaignar TV has received the television broadcast rights for the movie!
*Kanika has dubbed for Shriya!

Well, don't forget to bookmark this site for more Sivaji news and of course it's first review, you know I'll be hitting the theater on June 16th! : )
