Anjali said that she is avoiding Telugu films for the sake of Tamil films. She while speaking to the media said," I am very happy that there is good response for all my films. Whenever I go out stations, people there don’t look me as an actress but they look at me as one of their family member.

I like this image then being called number one actress or glamour actress. I am having lots of films throughout this year. Because of this I had to avoid two Telugu films. I have not thought about acting in other language films since I am getting good roles that I prefer.

Popular English film dubbed in Tamil

Cashing in on the popularity of English films dubbed into Tamil, yet another film follows suit. This time, the 2009 horror film Infestation directed by Kyle Rankin is being dubbed to Tamil and is distributed by Sri Raghavendra Film Circuit. Their previous dubbed distribution venture, Apocalypto was a huge success due to the rich, vast filming and visual effects. Infestation is titled Aayiram Poochigal in Tamil and is all set to release on the 4^th of March and the movie is known for its visual effects. Being a story about a bug infesting itself and wrecking havoc in the city, this film is hoping to repeat the success of Jurassic Park and others in the Tamil Nadu box office.

Prabhu Deva's Hindi Movie From August

Prabhu Deva is flying high on cloud nine as his hands are full of offers. Following the huge success of ‘Wanted’, the choreographer-turned-filmmaker is winning more offers from Bollywood and yet he is keen on choosing the best ones. Although Boney Kapoor had plans of signing him for his other movie, he has now joined hands with producer-filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

This film produced under the banner of Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions will feature Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles. Since the same duo is busy shooting for its other big budget movie ‘Joker 3D’, the project has been postponed to August.

Meanwhile, Prabhu Deva is on full-fledged process of shooting his untitled Tamil movie (remake of Telugu movie Shouryam) starring Vishal and Sameera Reddy in lead roles.

Non-stop shoot for ‘Nanban’ now

This time, it’s no more a long term project from Shankar as the producers of Gemini Film Circuit have insisted to wrap up the project on scheduled time. The first schedule was held at Ooty for a shorter while following which the actors in the movie got busy with their other projects. Of course, Vijay had to complete few portions of ‘Velayudham’ while Jeeva went to Mumbai for ‘Vandhan Vendran’.

Now the entire team is getting back together at Dehradun as Jeeva tweeted saying, “will be joinin Director Shankar, Ilayathalapathy, shreekanth, Illena n Sathyaraj sir etc phewwwww gotta travel so much for some big action.”

Meanwhile Shankar and Harris Jayaraj are back from London completing the music composition for remaining songs.

Sameera Reddy hospitalized

Sameera Reddy had to be rushed to a private hospital after she fainted on the sets of the untitled film directed by Prabhu Deva starring Vishal. Doctors treating Sameera have advised a week’s rest as Sameera is suffering from fever.
Sources close to the actress say that she has been working round the clock for the past several months as she has committed to a Telugu and Hindi film apart from several stage shows and this has taken a toll on her health.

The Oscars begin!

The 83^rd Oscar Awards ceremony, which is hosted by James Franco and Anne Hathaway, is underway at the Kodak Theater, Los Angeles. Interestingly, the 28-year-old Hathaway happens to be the youngest host at the Oscar ceremony so far.
Two hot favorites that are tipped to sweep the Oscars this year are The King’s Speech and The Social Network. While David Seidler won the Best Original Screenplay award for the former, Aaron Sorkin will take home the Oscar statuette for the Best Adapted Screenplay award for the latter.
The Kings Speech has 12 nominations and The Social Network has 8 nominations in all.

Rahman loses to Social Network and Toy Story-3

Maestro of Madras Rahman who was nominated by the Academy Awards for Best Original Score and Best Original Song (If I Rise) for the Danny Boyle’s film 127 hours has lost both the awards. The Best Original Score was bagged by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for the movie Social Network and Best Original Song trophy was lifted by Randy Newman who did the music and lyrics for the song ‘We Belong Together’ in the animated film Toy Story-3.

Vijay to join Nanban in Dehradun

One of the worth waiting film of the year Nanban, which completed the first schedule in Ooty with Jeeva, Srikanth, Ileana, SJ Surya is all set to go with the second schedule.
The crew is now heading to Dehradun where the second schedule happens. Director Shankar will be canning important sequences, where the original version was shot. Jeeva one of the lead actors in Nanban completed his shoot in Badami for his film Vandhaan Vendraan and took his flight to Dehradun today. Vijay the main lead in Nanban will be joining this schedule as the scenes related to Vijay’s role will be shot in Dehradun. Srikanth and Ileana are also joining Nanban camp.
It can also be mentioned here that the songs in Nanban will be totally changed and Harris is giving completely fresh tunes for Nanban. Recently director Shankar and music director Harris Jayraj have left to London for composing the songs. Gemini film Circuit is producing Nanban.

Sonakshi Sinha unsure of Kamal Hassan's project

The journey of any aspiring Bollywood actress is incomplete without working in a Tamil film. The likes of Aishwarya Rai, Shilpa Shetty, Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut, and many others had done some project or the other in South during their early days of career. In fact Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra and Genelia actually made their film debut in a Tamil movie.

Of late the buzz is it that ‘Dabangg’ beauty Sonakshi Sinha has been also approached for a tri-lingual (Hindi, Tamil and Telugu) film to be directed by Selvaraghavan with the super star Kamal Haasan in the lead.

Manirathnam Signs Mahesh Babu

Tollywood Prince Mahesh Babu is realizing one of biggest dreams that of working in a Mani Ratnam film. Mahesh Babu himself confirmed on Sunday the news that Mani Ratnam met him recently and signed him for his next bilingual film which will be shot in Tamil and Telugu simultaneously.

Kollywood was already buzzing about Mani Ratnam making a period film adapting the epic historical novel ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ with Vijay, Vikram and a third star playing the all important male lead roles. The undeclared third actor was thought to be Mahesh Babu.

But the sources say the film by Mani Ratnam with Mahesh Babu is not ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ but another film that will be a social drama to be filmed largely in European countries.

That presses the curiosity button even harder. If Mahesh Babu is not the third big actor in ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, who could it be? Who could it be? Who could it be?

Confusion Prevails in Producing Vijay's Film

Ananya goes to Bollywood

Kollywood seems to be the launch pad for Mollywood actresses to reach Bollywood. Close on the heels of Asin, here comes Ananya, who is packing her bags off to the north.

The actress, whose performance in her recent Tamil film ‘Seedan’ has been received well, will share the screen space with Madhavan in a Hindi movie. And she is also learning the language.

Confirming this, Ananya says, “I am happy to act opposite Madhavan. I already know Hindi to a certain extent. But learning it again now to help myself on the sets of the movie.”

Ananya, at the same time, also assures that she would continue doing south Indian films. “I am at present acting in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam movies. My career has been shaping up good.”

AR Rahman at the Oscars

When the big Oscar night begins in Los Angeles on Sunday, there are a few Indian celebrities who will be spotted at the Kodak Theatre.

AR Rahman will walk the red carpet as he has been nominated in two categories this year. He has been nominated for Best Original Music Score for the Danny Boyle film ‘127 Hours’ and for Best Original Song along with Dido and Rollo Armstrong for the number ‘If I Rise’ in the same film.

"If I Rise" will be performed by AR Rahman and Florence Welch of the Grammy-nominated Florence and the Machine at the Oscars ceremony. Dido, who lives in the U.K. will be skipping the award as she is expecting her first child this summer and decided not to travel.

After Cannes film festival, Aishwarya Rai along with her hubby Abhishek Bachchan will grace the Oscars Award ceremony on Sunday. The couple is already in LA.

Fresh from the sets of Bala’s ‘Avan Ivan’, Vishal feels the actor in him has got upgraded thanks to the national award winning director. “Now I know what to do and what not to in front of camera,” he says.

Denying reports appeared in a section of the media that he had difference of opinion with Arya, his co-star in the film, Vishal says, “those spreading such rumours are perhaps not aware of a fact.”

He explains: “We (he and Arya) are good friends even before we entered the industry. The age of our friendship is 16 and it is not easy for us to fight with each other. We in fact had a blast on the sets of Avan Ivan.”

On his forthcoming movie, directed by Prabhu Deva, Vishal says, “It is an action entertainer which is to be narrated in a totally different way. I am happy to join hands with Prabhu Deva.”

Ananya annoys Seedan director

Director Subramaniam Siva has alleged that Ananya did not cooperate well during the making of Seedan. He has said that the actress did not adhere to his instructions regarding make up and facial expressions thereby annoying him on the sets.                                                                                                                                                                                                                           The director had wanted Ananya to tone down her make-up as she plays a servant maid in the film and also look gloomy to a certain extent to fit into the role. However, the lady arrived on the sets with full make-up on and refused to change her facial expressions which resulted in a lot of argument between both.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                With the film hitting the screens yesterday and being well-received by the audiences, Ananya seems to have understood the director’s judgment and is said to have apologized for her behavior.

Ajith Kumar-Trisha in 'Poorna Market'

Telugu film industry’s famous producer Shiva has acquired the Telugu dubbing rights of ‘Kireedom’ that marked the debut directorial of Vijay. The film happened to be an important milestone in Ajith Kumar’s career as he shed his mass hero image and opted for a different character.

Since major portions of the movie has been shot across important locations of Andhra Pradesh, the producers feel that such ‘nativity’ factor will grab the attention of audiences. It is worth mentioning that ‘Kireedom’ is a remake of yesteryear Malayalam movie with the same title starring Mohan Lal in lead role.

The film will hit screens shortly and audio is scheduled to be launched by first week of March.

Rima Kallingal adds glamour for Kochi IPL Anthem

Director Priyadarshan is right now busy shooting the theme song for Kochi IPL team, Indi Commandos on the back waters of  Varapuzha.

The shoot is taking place at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium since last Monday. The anthem is of two-minute length and will portray the culture and traditions of Kerala, besides this it will showcase the beauty of Kerala and also blends Kerala’s martial art form Kalaripayattu with cricket. All the leading players of the Kochi team will be seen in the song and actress Rima Kallingal will add the required glamour essence to the song. Few scenes will be shot during World Cup matches in Chennai.

Music is given by award winning music director Ousepachen while camera is handled by Thiru. In, 2010 March Rendezvous Sports World has bagged the Kochi franchisee rights for Rs.1,500 crores.

Abhi-Ash to attend Oscars?

 The power couple of Bollywood Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan reported to have been invited by the Academy to grace the Oscars Award ceremony that will be held on Sunday.

 Quite thrilled over this, Abhishek’s star father Amitabh Bachchan revealed on his blog - "Abhishek and Aishwarya have been invited by the Academy to attend the Oscars on Sunday." The veteran actor is very excited that his son and daughter-in-law have got such prestigious opportunity.

Abhishek and Aishwarya is currently said to be enjoying their stay in LA, by shopping around. On such shopping spree, Big B shared, the couple met American actor Warren Beatty. He also added that they will have Beatty’s company at the award function.

21-year-old girl opposite Suriya

Few days back it’s heard that handsome hunk Suriya going to share the screen space with Bollywood beauties for his next film Maatraan. But the director of the film K V Anand is denying the reports.

He said that he is not in plans to bring any of the Bollywood heroines for his film. Director says “Till now I have not contacted any of the Bollywood actresses for the female lead opposite Suriya”. We are looking for a 21-year-old girl for the heroine character who would perfectly fit the role.

In Maatraan, Suriya will be seen in five different get ups which would be a complete different look so far in his career.

Produced by AGS Entertainment the film is likely to move on sets after Suriya completes his prior commitments. Music is by Harris Jayraj. Maatraan will be a tri lingual in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Premji and Vijay Vasanth met with car accident

Birthday boy Premji Amaren along with Vijay Vasanth has met with an accident today in Chennai.

The actor has celebrated his birthday yesterday. Both of them were in a chauffeur driven car when the accident took place. Premji and Vijay were injured and the extent of the accident is still not known. The driver immediately logged a complaint at a police complaint immediately.

Premji Amaren is the son of Gangai Amaren and brother of director Venkat Prabhu while Vijay Vasanth is the son of politician Vasantha Kumar. The details of the occurrence are awaited.

Currently Premji Amaren is busy with Mankatha.

Jayam Ravi’s double dhamaka!

Though his film Thillalangadi stood as an average scorer last year Jayam Ravi didn’t drop his spirit. With a brimming hope he is gearing up to release two of his film to come back to his original track.

His forthcoming films Engeyum Kadhal and Aadhi Bhagavan are two different flicks which are hitting the screens this summer. Engeyum Kadhal is a romantic entertainer while Aadhi Bhagavan is a complete action flick. Jayam Ravi is sharing the screen space with Hansika Motwani and Neetu Chandra in the films respectively.

Jayam Ravi says “I am playing two different characters in both the films where they are incomparable. Besides doing different roles I had a lot of scope for performance in both the films”.

Engeyum Kadhal is hitting the screens on March 25th while his other project Aadhi Bhagavan is expected to release on April 14th.

Celebrities at CavinKare Ability Awards

The ninth edition of the CavinKare Ability Awards was held on February 19th at the Venkatasubba Rao auditorium and a host of celebrities including Revathi, Blaze, Swarnamalya, Ananda Kannan and others participated in this event. CavinKare & Ability Foundation conducts this event to salute the differently-abled Indians for their achievements.
The awards are categorized into two – eminence and mastery. Harman Singh Sidhu from Chandigarh won the eminence award while the mastery awards went to Babli Gambhir, Jaora, Madhya Pradesh, Varun Jain, Hrishikesh, Uttarakhand, and Sujatha Burla, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.

Nagarjuna to start film institute

It’s time for Nagarjuna to pay back to the industry. The top Tollywood actor, who was seen in Tamil films like ‘Idhayathai Thirudathey’, ‘Ratchagan’ and the recent ‘Payanam’, will start a film institute soon.

Nagarjuna, who hails from the legendary Akkineni family, feels that the south Indian film industry lacks a proper training centre, where aspiring talents would get proper guidance and coaching.

He says that the institute to be floated by him would be on the lines of the American Film Institute, New York University, and the University of Southern California. “I would like to ensure that our youngsters are getting proper training,” he says.

On ‘Payanam’, produced by Prakash Raj and directed by Radha Mohan, he says, “It was a different story which is a straight contrast from the run-of-the-mill kind of stuff. We all enjoyed working for Payanam.”

Gautham Menon's Birthday Resolution

On the occasion of his birthday, filmmaker Gautham Menon has announced that he will soon start a new musical romantic drama starring A-league star in lead role.

Is it Arya, Suriya or Karthi? Everything remains concealed as the filmmaker doesn’t reveal anything pertaining to his next movie. Following the recent release ‘Nadunisi Naaigal’, director Gautham has instantly decided to kick-start his next movie, which will be a feel-good romantic comedy. The closer sources report that Gautham wants to wipe-out his bad image amongst the mindsets of family audiences after NN.

He is planning to kick-start the shooting of ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya’ Hindi version by second week of April. The film has some of the young and happening star-casts like Prateik Babbar of ‘Dhobi Ghat’ fame and ‘Madharasapattinam’ Amy Jackson while ‘3 Idiots’ Omi Vaidya will play the role of Prateik’s pal that was played by Ganesh in Tamil version while actor Krishna in Telugu.

Soon after this project, he will commence this Tamil film that will have musical score by A.R. Rahman and cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa. Gautham revealed the news to his close associates yesterday on the occasion of his birthday.
